Question:
Stated in Holy Book of Thay Sang, in Chapter 7 Paragraph 6 that is “Life is a competition”. What is the actual meaning of that paragraph? And How should we ( Taoist ) face competitions in every aspect of our life?
Thank you.
Answer:
The meaning of that paragraph is that in life we should live our life full with energy and try very hard to improve it.
It is a fact and also very natural that life is full of competition. When we were young, we competed with others through many tests to enter to a favorite school. Even during kindergarten time, in playing ground we had to compete with our friends to get to play with toys. As we grew up, while searching for a job or maintaining our career, we also have to go through a competition. So “competition” in life is NATURAL.
In order to manage ‘competition’ well, we should have ‘superiority’ in ourselves. We, people who learn Tao ( Siu Tao ), should always improve our physical ability and our way of thinking and also other aspects of ourselves so that we could have the superiority. We also should live in this competitive life but still choose ‘the right way´ and come out as a ‘winner’ with pride and esteem.
